Gunduz Karimov is a Senior Associate in Baker & McKenzie’s Baku office. Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie in 2002, he spent over two years with the Baku Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross working on two programs: “Dissemination of International Humanitarian Law Among Academic Circles”, and “Implementation of International Humanitarian Law into the National Legislation.” Born in Gazakh in 1977, he finished school in Khanlar (present Goy-Gol). Mr. Karimov graduated with honors from Baku State University in 2000 and received his LL.M. degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 2002. In November 2008, he defended his PhD thesis on Intellectual Property Law and Private International Law from Baku State University.
Mr. Karimov has taught Private International Law and International Intellectual Property Law at the International Law Faculty of Baku State University where he has been a faculty member since 2000. In addition to his teaching duties, he is the Coordinator of the Commercial Law LL.M Program at the Law Faculty of the University established with the assistance of USAID and American Bar Association.
Gunduz Karimov is a member of Azerbaijan Collegium of Advocates and is a registered trademark attorney of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 2007.
